A classroom next to the line: what a modular training room includes and what it costs to start

Short answer
A modular training room is a larger office footprint, 12' x 20' for about twelve seats or 16' x 20' for sixteen to twenty, fitted with sound-rated panels, a whiteboard or glass-board wall, a display mount with power and data at the front, and tables and chairs on the same quote. Quick-ship 12' x 20' buildings are published by manufacturers with starting prices in the low-to-mid five figures for a four-wall unit with an 8-foot ceiling, HVAC, a steel door, and windows; furnishing, sound upgrades, freight, and installation are added lines. For one or two people who need a place to take a call, a quiet pod is the smaller answer.

What the market publishes for a 12' x 20' building
One national manufacturer publishes quick-ship 12' x 20' pricing: a four-wall unit starting around $14,700, a three-wall unit around $11,700, and a two-wall corner unit around $9,900, with 8-foot or 9-foot panels, a 3070 steel door, 4' x 3' windows, and HVAC packages at roughly 12,000 BTU cooling. Those are list prices for the base building and exclude sound upgrades, furniture, freight, and installation. Use them as a sanity check, not a quote.
Quiet pods and phone booths
The pod market has moved to lab-tested ratings. ISO 23351-1 measures speech level reduction for pods specifically; STC is the lab rating for a partition and NIC is the field rating. A good booth reduces speech by 30 to 35 dB or more; single-glazed pods are typically in the STC 25 to 30 range and double-glazed 35 to 40. Ask for the ISO 23351-1 class or a lab-tested STC rather than a bare claim.

- How many people fit in a 12' x 20' training room?
- About twelve at training tables in rows, or ten around a single conference table. A 16' x 20' room seats sixteen to twenty.
- Can the furniture be on the same quote?
- Yes. Furnishing the room on the building quote is the usual request and keeps the requisition to one document.
- How quiet is a quiet pod?
- Depends on the glazing and seals. Ask for the ISO 23351-1 class or a lab-tested STC. A good booth reduces speech by 30 to 35 dB or more.
