About loading dock equipment
A loading dock position is a system: the leveler bridges the gap and height difference to the trailer, the seal or shelter closes the opening around the trailer, the restraint holds the trailer to the wall, and bumpers absorb the impact of backing in. Specifying them together avoids the mismatches that show up when each piece is bought separately.
Levelers are sized by platform width and length, capacity, and activation method: mechanical, hydraulic, or air-powered. Seals and shelters are sized to the door opening and the trailer types you receive. Restraints are chosen by the trailer mix, including intermodal chassis and lift-gate trailers. Bumpers are selected by projection and the amount of trailer traffic.
